A new bathroom in a detached house with KEUCO
A spacious bathroom with a floor-level shower and bath tub, a light-flooded bedroom and a practical workstation - the couple Belfqih have made their personal living dream come true with a major renovation of their home. After the children left the house, Kordula & Mohammed Belfqih decided to completely renovate the upper floor of their own home in Krefeld and to restructure it as part of this process. It all started with a desire for a modern and comfortable bathroom. Tailored to the new needs of a two-person household: The couple imagined bright and spacious rooms for their newly designed floor. Planner Bettina Bickert from Plankreis in Krefeld ( www.plankreis.com ) had the exciting task of creating a new living atmosphere. Modern elements should be incorporated into the planning with oriental influences, as the Westphalian lifestyle meets Moroccan traditions at the Belfqihs.
Rooms were combined and the floor restructured to achieve the best possible result: The two children’s rooms now form the sleeping area with a walk-in wardrobe. The former parents’ bedroom and bathroom were merged into one room. Today, the new spacious bathroom is here. A workstation is located in the corridor between the rooms.
The family’s bathroom was last renovated about 20 years ago. The 90s furnishings now had to give way to contemporary interiors. For the plastered sand-coloured walls, Bettina Bickert chose a ceramic washbasin and white, high-gloss bathroom furniture from the EDITION 400 by KEUCO, which provide plenty of storage space, with matching chrome-plated mixer taps and accessories. With its strikingly elegant sleekness and all-round aluminium frame, the light mirror of the EDITION 400 appears above the wash bay.
The large LED light mirror visually enlarges the room and impresses the couple with special functions: The light can be dimmed and the light colour continuously adjusted via discreet, intelligent sensor control: from light white daylight to ideal everyday beauty care to warm white light, for perfect evening makeup or an atmospheric bathroom atmosphere. The integrated mirror heating is particularly practical after showering to prevent the mirror from misting up.
The large, floor-level shower is separated by a glass shower wall and gives the room extra depth. Bettina Bickert planned to use IXMO mixer taps in a minimalist and powerful design at the same time. "IXMO fits perfectly into the bathroom design of the Belfqihs, because it implements the lightness unusually consistently. Not only in terms of design, but also because the number of modules can be reduced to a minimum," says the planner. The clever bundling of functions makes it possible to reduce the number of mixer taps on the wall. Whether round or rectangular: The rosettes consistently have a side length or diameter of 90 mm and the projection is always 80 mm. IXMO mixer taps are multi-talented in a minimalist design. Only two IXMO mixer tap modules are required for the shower application for the head and hand shower.
The aluminium EDITION 400 shower shelf surprises with a “docking station” for the glass wiper that is not visible at first glance. Harmoniously integrated into the design, it prevents shower items from falling down. A practical everyday hero from KEUCO.
The couple Belfqih are very satisfied with the result: "We really enjoy spending time in our bathroom now. And most importantly: the surfaces are very easy to maintain. The new bright and spacious living atmosphere gives us a better quality of life," says Kordula Belfqih.
